Depending on what department you work in you may or may not be compensated for you work. If you work on the tech side they demand you to work long hours at below market pay but scare you with stories of the bad economy to keep you there and working. If you are on the sales/marketing side, they just don't honor your bonus packages and force you to fight for the money and then if you actually win the fight you'll probably get axed in the next layoff. They have started compensating people with flat screen tv's...probably because they can write them off as a business expense. Not often and large groups fight for 1 tv over the whole quarter...This isn't a joke...it is really that bad.
From a customer service side it doesn't get much better. If you have an issue you better be prepared to fight in court because the default response to any issue is "do you have that in writing" and "I'll see you in court". The phrase customer service as applied to Softscape is an oxymoron...
The people that have made comments that are positive are confused. I actually know them and they are nice guys but are choosing to not acknowledge the terrible treatment of the rest of the company because they are treated so kindly. Its a natural human reflex to look the other way and to not bite the hand that feeds you but the things that are being talked about in these ratings are widely talked about around the water coolers and the foosball table and these guys know the score. They're just trying to keep the 100% of their paycheck coming in and overlooking that their "friends" don't know from one pay period to the next whether they'll be receiving 100% or maybe 25%...unbelievable. Oh once everything in billing was straightened out we were reimbursed that money right? Absolutely not...because it had nothing to do with billing. It had to do with the fact that we lost the lawsuit and financially settled for an undisclosed amount...I'm going to guess that it was about 75% of all the paychecks in Hooville that the Grinch so gentlemanly stole at Christmas to pay for is felonious capers.
Its really this bad and there is so much more but I'm not wasting anymore of my time typing or talking about the place effectionately known by its employees as
F&#@scape
Sweatscape, my personal favorite..
Suckscape
If you've ever read the book "The Trial" by Franz Kafka this is what it is like working at Sweatscape.
Google the CEO and the rest of the executive team...you'll be shocked.

Wow.. flat screen TVs??? 75% reduction in pay?? That is really sad to hear.
Anyway.. I wonder who will pay for this?

"Eau Claire (WQOW) - A computer company that couldn't get the job done for the county has been ordered to pay up.
A jury ordered Softscape Development to pay Eau Claire County about $270,000.
The county hired the company to redo the software system for human services. But after it paid out about $165,000 for the job, the county says it became clear there were problems.
The jury found the company made false claims and breached its contract." -

This is probably why they don't use their own product. Imagine that, espousing the necessity to have a "fully integrated approach to Human Capital Management" and then not using it in your own organization. This house of cards is coming tumbling down. -

Absolutely agree with all negative comments. Steer clear of this nuthouse company, with the Narcissus/Stalin leader, Dave. How many times did we hear, "Hank (Henry Watkins) says he may be late on the payroll this week." The only thing this company was capable of teaching was how to lie and sell products ranging from the State of Indiana to Corning, Deere, etc. with with a smoke and mirrors approach. The head of Sales was a crook. He's gone now. There was a class action suit against the company by former account executives that did not get their commissions as stated in their respective hiring agreements. If your name is not Watkins or related in some way to the Watkins or your name is Igor on an HB1 Visa looking for sponsorship, then I would advise looking elsewhere for employment unless it is putting on a new roof or installing drywall at the place. They have a job posting for a litigation attorney. Should be a good opportunity and they should have more openings in the future, especially when the server room(closet) goes up in flames at the garage they call their headquarters. -

75% pay cuts? Wow, just wow. Even in the current down economy, if you're a decent developer, there are jobs for you in MA. Don't let Softscape treat you like this. -

Sounds pretty damn corrupt! And I can tell this post has to come from fact and come from your experience. I've worked in a couple similar really messed up situations such as working in Arthur J. Gallagher's IT Development department in Itasca, IL...absolutely a terrible experience on many levels....especially the dev managers, code base which was falling apart, and consultants working within that department -
