rating for Marchex

4.0 Startup energy with established stability posted on February 24, 2010

Marchex is an exciting place to work, yet does not expect nights/weekends from developers. That might happen in a production crisis situation as it could anywhere, but it is not the rule.

Since committing to reinvent itself in 2009, Marchex has made big progress in attracting top talent in engineering and other areas. Technology is Java / MySQL predominantly, some Oracle, some RoR. SDLC is a mix of waterfall with rapid releases; one group is transitioning to Lean/XP.

There are a number of Amazon / MSFT veterans who are loving this place.
